brief history:
blaise never met her parents, never wanted to. she was dropped off on the door step as a baby, swathed in rags. there was a note beside her head only with the words 'my name is blaise' written upon the paper and that was it. the home took her in with caution, confused and worried as to where the parents might be and what state they were in, but they were never found. blaise grew up already filled with resentment for being unwanted by the people biologically programmed to love her. she was difficult to handle, always up to something or other. at once point when she was around eight, the doctor tried to diagnose her with ADHD but it was a false diagnosis. she never showed symptoms for it, she was simply a difficult child to handle.
she had no proper role models in life to teach her. she was passed from temporary foster home to temporary foster home, sometimes the parent's were too free and she did whatever she wanted - skipping school, picking on other kids, acting out in class...and as she grew older, staying out too late, smoking, hanging out with the wrong group, stealing, sleeping with boys when she got to that age. she didn't mean to be a bad kid, but either her foster carers didn't know how to handle her and so she was never taught right and wrong, or they were too strict and she fought back. a couple of people even lashed out at her once which did not go down well with anyone, and always within weeks or months she was back to the home.
once she got to her later teens she started to get called on by the police. 'where was she on the night of this or that date at this or that time', when things had gone missing from a few small local shops and houses or if there was vandalism. it started to become a regular occurance for the police to bring her home every night, so much so that even they began to give up on her and simply resigned themselves to picking her up off the street at 1am every morning and escorting the sometimes wasted, sometimes not wasted girl back to the home.
once eighteen she was free of the place, and she left without a backward glance. they worried of course, of what she was to become but it was too late, she was already set on that destructive path. once free of the home she set herself up at a cheap flat far out from her hometown and attempted to get a job. it was hard, nobody wanted to employ a foster kid with bad school grades and so in order to pay rent she had to resort to ways she'd half hoped she wouldn't have to -theft. oh she would never sleep with the land lord as payment, she was not a whore and refused to be seen as a piece of meat no matter his implications. no, instead she began to steal. small things at first until she leant how to do it properly - how to avoid getting caught.
she wound up in a cell a few times, but nothing seemed to quite get through to her, to bother her enough to try another way. she felt the whole world was against her, so what else to do but fight back in the most under dog ways she could. her thefts escalated and she in fact got away with rather a lot from time to time - her most prized acomplishment was an aston martin vanquish car; a beautiful car. that wasn't quite stealing - she was owed the car in reality. a boyfriend of hers; one she picked up on a random night out as it happened, and it turned out to become more than just the one night. he was similar to hers; a rough guy, but rather than theft, he had gotten into drug pushing. that was a whole other side that she didn't want to get into, and she tried to ignore what he did. they got by better together, enough to have to talk about the fact that they couldn't simply hold so much money on them, and they couldn't trust a bank account...so instead they decided to buy something - and they both agreed on a fast car. a beautiful fast car. see... blaise has a thing about beautiful cars.
they didn't quite have as much as they needed, and so blaise tried a difficult steal. an expensive mans expensive home vault. it took weeks of preparation and in the end she almost made it out. her boyfriend - thomas - had agreed to help and she just managed to grab a crap load of cash when the place was busted. thomas made it out. she didn't. she was jailed for two years only because she managed to get a good lawyer, she even gave them information on thomas, and pleaded guilty. she may have been a proud woman, but she was smart and she knew how to shorten her sentence. she got into some fights behind bars but nothing the cops ever really knew much about, and in the end she was released four months early on good behaviour. as soon as she was free she went after thomas.
it took her months to track him down, but she had contacts and she knew his - finally she caught up with him in london where she discovered he'd taken the money that she had stolen for them, and spent it on a fabulous aston matin vanquish...just like they'd planned. she was angry, incredibly so, for him leaving her to rot in jail, for spending the money, all of that. somehow he managed to calm her down, swore he was sorry, that he tried his best and this was a present for her. he lied. after a night together that left her pregnant, he drove off without her..in her car. she followed him pretty damn quickly and took what he owed her. she was good at theft, it was her life, and stealing from him was easy - she took some of his money for good measure, and this time she drove off without him. he couldn't file a report with the police about the car without explaining who he was and how he got the money...and then he'd be the one inside a jail cell for years.
of course this meant she was alone once more...well not quite alone, only a few weeks later did she learn that she was pregnant. it was the worst news she could have - just out of prison, alone, money-less, job-less, homeless....she was tempted to rid herself off the kid but even for her that was too heartless. instead she struggled by as best she could, managing to get a waitressing job until she started to round out and they sacked her. the money was enough for a while, and once the kid was born she named him jacob and found that she already loved him. she got money here or there from random jobs but it was barely enough and rent on their little flat was always late. she did her best as a mother but felt inadequate, run down... eventually the social services came as she knew they would. apparently someone in the building block had been concerned by the childs welfare, and upon seeing the mothers awful, small, dingy apartment, cupboards almost bare of food - and certainly of anything decent - and her poor track record, they took her child from her. she was distraught, fought to get him back but there was nothing she could do...and she moved away, trying to start afresh in hickstead.

overall personality:
she'd not all that difficult to figure out to start with. when you first meet her, you think you have her pegged. she's rude and sarcastic above all, with a snippy come back for every sentence out of your mouth and a bit of bite to go with it. she's sarky and often rather cruel with her words, able to twist them to get the right effect; whether to piss you off or make you back off. she's got a smart mouth with whoever she's talking to, but most particularly with people of authority or the police. she's not always downright nasty but if pushed she can be. the thing is, it takes you longer to realise that actually she's just defensive. you can listen to her talk for an hour but you'll never learn anything about her because she never says. it takes a lot to make her talk, she's brilliant at deflecting and actually very good at talking and taking the conversation where she wants it to go.
she's intelligent in the sense that nobody really knows her, but actually deep down she kind of wants to be good. sure she'll never be a goody goody, there's a part of her that loves the thrill of being 'bad ass' just too much to let it go, but another part of her wants to just settle down. she can be rather thoughtful and considerate to others if given the chance. she's very good at remembering things and observing people, and sometimes she acts upon the knowledge - either in a good or bad way but still. she's not trusting at all, but she can be trustworthy herself so long as you prove to her you're worth it, and she can be loyal. she's not always dependable, being a bit of a free-spirit...a loose cannon, sometimes she'll miss meetings she shouldn't have but she does try. she's not always honest but if she isn't it's usually for a good reason. in all truth she's not all as bad and horrible as she makes out to be, you just have to give her a chance, time and patience.
